Creative Capers made two clips, which arrived at LEGO just before their deadline. Elliot's pitch was a simple jungle scene with an invisible Lewa de-cloaking itself to frighten a dragonfly, then running and jumping around. These studios were Elliot Animation and Creative Capers, and both produced test animations featuring the original 2001 form of Lewa. The LEGO Company approached two production studios and provided them with CGI models to create test reels.
Hahli was meant to be shy and reserved, but we don't really see this side of her.In this, he is instead more of a slow-thinking but cheerful bruiser who adores tough, physical, "manly" work and gets into trouble by running into a fight without thinking it through. Onua was meant to be a brutish but brilliant and mostly silent thinker, only speaking up when he had something important to say, and always calculating his every step.In this movie, he is almost the exact opposite: mature, more emotional and serious, and groups together with his partners without hesitation.
Lewa was originally a hyperactive and somewhat rude thrill-seeker who hated working with the others and always cracked jokes.
Here, acts younger and is far less stern, though he still plays the "straight man" role. His pal Jaller was originally an extremely uptight and serious military leader. In this movie, he is still reckless, but has little sense of responsibility and would rather goof off than do work. Takua was originally courageous, very mature, always helpful towards others but recklessly adventurous. Many of the characters were slightly rewritten for story purposes or to suit the movie creator's ideas of them better:
